CPAP, BiPAP, and VPAP Device Development
Durable Medical Equipment - CPAP
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) was originally developed as a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea. In fact, one of the primary applications of CPAP machines is for home use for obstructive sleep apnea. PAP is also used for in hospitals when patients have acute respiratory failure due to problems such as congestive cardiac failure and obstructive airways disease. Depending on the specific requirements, bi-level c-pap breathing machines (BiPAP) and Variable Positive Airway Pressure (VPAP) may be preferable to the basic CPAP machine. Each of these respiratory ventilators are now used in a variety of home and hospital settings and perform life-saving and life-changing services to tens of thousands of people every day.
CPAP Machines
The medical product design process for oxygen therapy related devices requires discriminating attention to minute details and quality standards bar none. Automated Control Systems provides reliable respiratory therapy device product development and contract manufacturing for medical devices, and also serve as medical devices consultants
Our client base includes Medtronic, Chart Industries, Cardinal 3M, Delphi Medical, and IBM. Oxygen-related durable medical equipment design and development for CPAP, BiPAP and VPAP and related medical applications are our specialty. Call us today at 952-895-1222 and see why some of the top Minnesota medical device manufacturers call ACS when quality is key.
Nasal CPAP/Neonatal
CPAP machines are also being used in neonatal units around the world, both with conventional respirator CPAP and bubble CPAP. CPAP has proven to be an affective modality for neonates with complications, particularly respiratory complications, and for premature babies.
The CPAP machine pushes air through to the lungs despite congestion or minor obstruction and helps develop proper lung function and rhythm. CPAP may also act as a stent for upper airways preventing collapse and obstruction. Neonatal CPAP is far less invasive than intubation and far less likely to contribute to complications.
NCPAP (nasal prongs), NP-CPAP (nasopharyngeal tube), and NM-CPAP (infant nasal masks) are specific application procedures used with neonates.
CPAP - BiPAP - VPAP applications include improving the ability of the lungs to exchange carbon dioxide and oxygen and avoid ventilation perfusion mismatch by reducing the strain on the lungs and by preventing alveoli and bronchiole collapse during exhalation.
